We are seeking a friendly, reliable Customer Service Team Member to join our busy Morningside location. This full-time, permanent role is perfect for someone who enjoys frontline service, works well under pressure, and takes pride in helping customers have a great experience. You will be part of a small, fast-moving team responsible for serving customers, handling payments, and keeping the front-of-house area organised and welcoming.

Role overview:

  • Provide fast, friendly and professional service to every customer.

  • Take and process customer orders accurately at the counter and by phone.

  • Handle multiple payment methods and maintain cash control.

  • Assist with stock receiving, unpacking and front-of-house presentation.

  • Support colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming environment.

  • Recommend specials, promotions and add-ons to increase customer satisfaction and sales.

  • Take orders quickly and correctly using the point-of-sale system; ring up purchases and process payments (cash, debit/credit).

  • Pack, bag or box orders neatly and ensure each order looks presentable and accurate before handing over.

  • Manage phone orders: answer promptly, confirm order details, and process for collection or delivery.

  • Balance the cash register at shift end; perform accurate cash counts and report any variances.

  • Maintain the checkout and front-of-house areas: keep them clean, tidy and stocked with necessary supplies.

  • Receive, verify and unpack incoming stock and assist with rotation and shelf replenishment.

  • Communicate any customer complaints or serious incidents to the manager and help resolve minor issues on the spot, following company policy.

  • Follow all company procedures, food-safety and hygiene requirements where applicable.

  • Be flexible and willing to perform additional duties as requested to support the team.

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum requirement: Matric (Grade 12).

  • Clear criminal record.

  • Fluent in English; ability to communicate politely and clearly.

  • Must live within 15 km of the store or have reliable transport.

  • Strong customer-service attitude: patient, courteous and positive.

  • Good numeracy and basic computer skills to handle POS and cash reconciliation.

  • Ability to multitask during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Reliable, punctual and able to work varied shifts as needed.

Desirable (not essential):

  • Previous experience as a Team Member, Crew Member, or Back-of-House staff in retail or hospitality.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and meeting service targets.

  • Experience handling phone orders and using common POS systems.

Work schedule & conditions:

  • Full-time, permanent role.

  • Standard shift length typically 8 hours; schedule may include evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

  • Operate in a customer-facing, sometimes busy environment requiring standing, light lifting and manual handling.
