Grain Field Chickens, a subsidiary of VKB Agriculture (PTY)Ltd, is a dynamic role player in the integrated broiler industry with an abattoir in Reitz in the North Eastern Free State. We offer you the opportunity to establish yourself within a professional, corporate environment in the countryside.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the operations of the slaughterhouse and to ensure that all aspects of slaughtering are maintained
Job requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF 4.
- Have good reading and writing skills.
- Able to communicate proficiently in English.
- Knowledge about operational framework of the slaughterhouse preferred.
- Fully knowledgeable about Islamic slaughter criteria.
- Must be a Muslim.
- Knowledge of health and contamination criteria at the slaughterhouse preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP, safety and security rules and regulations preferred.
- Able to take prompt corrective measures when necessary.
Duties and responsibilities
- Slaughters chicken as prescribed by religious law.
- Sharpens knife on whetstone or sharpening steel and washes knife.
Skills required
- Attention to detail.
- Willing to work overtime including shifts when required.
- Conflict handling.
