Duties and Responsibilities

As a Reaction Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of employees, visitors, property, and assets. Your responsibilities will include:

Protecting employees, visitors, buildings, and movable assets.
Conducting regular patrols of the property to deter security breaches.
Monitoring and operating surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity.
Inspecting plant areas, buildings, and movable equipment.
Managing access control points, permitting safe entry and exit.
Using alarms and related devices to mobilise assistance when required.
Enforcing rules by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policies, and restraining trespassers when necessary.
Directing traffic to ensure smooth flow and safety of vehicles and pedestrians.
Writing comprehensive reports by recording observations, incidents, interviews, and signatures.
Performing preventative maintenance to ensure security equipment remains in working condition.
Providing excellent customer service and upholding company service standards.
Responding swiftly to emergencies such as theft, fire, assault, or medical incidents.
Ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and national regulations.
Supporting initiatives including fire prevention, property patrols, traffic control, and accident investigations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: Grade 12 (Matric). Alternatively, Grade 10 or 11 with more than 2 years of relevant experience.
PSIRA Certification: Valid Grade A and Grade B Security Certificates.
Special Certification: Armed Response Certificate.
Firearm Competency: Valid competency for Handgun, Shotgun, and Rifle.
Licence: Valid driver’s licence.
Additional Skills: Excellent report writing, strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Flexibility: Willingness to relocate as per operational needs.
