Are you looking for short-term festive season work? We are hiring General Assistants to join our Roodepoort team on a one-month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and enjoys working in a team-oriented retail environment.
As a General Assistant, your main role will be to help keep the store clean, well-organised, and fully stocked for customers. You will be responsible for maintaining the shelves, checking product displays, assisting with stock receiving, and helping customers when required. Your attention to detail will ensure customers enjoy a positive and pleasant shopping experience during the busy festive period.
Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant, you will:

Pack shelves and fridges according to the store’s layout plan and visual merchandising standards.

Ensure that shelves and fridges are always fully stocked with the correct products.

Maintain cleanliness and organisation in store aisles, fridges, and storage areas.
-
Check that price labels are correct, clearly visible, and neatly displayed.
-
Make sure all product labels match the items on display.
-
Assist with receiving stock deliveries, verifying quantities, and keeping accurate records of received items.

Help with stock counting and inventory control when required.

Remove trash from storage and retail areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.

Be available to assist customers with locating products and answering basic inquiries.

Support team members and supervisors with general store duties as needed.

Follow all health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, including what to do during emergencies.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must have:

Matric (Grade 12) – essential.

Clear criminal record.
-
Reside within 30km of Roodepoort.

Previous experience in any of the following roles:
-
General Assistant
-
General Worker / Clerk
-
Picker or Receiving Clerk
-
Shop Assistant / Merchandiser
-

Strong attention to detail and willingness to perform physical work.

Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
-
Must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
Although not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates who:

Are EE/AA or South African citizens.

Have own reliable transport to and from work.

Are between 25 and 45 years old.

Have previous experience in retail, warehouse, or merchandising environments.

Work well under pressure and manage time efficiently.
