About the Position

The Shop Assistant Cashier role is central to ensuring an efficient and enjoyable shopping experience for all customers. Successful candidates will play a dual role: providing friendly and professional service at the point of sale (POS) while maintaining high standards of store presentation and merchandising.

This position requires individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to create a welcoming environment for every customer. As a brand ambassador, you will help customers find what they need, inform them about promotions, and ensure smooth, accurate transactions.

Key Job Objectives

  • Execute all operational activities efficiently at the point of sale.

  • Accurately scan and process merchandise while collecting payment for goods purchased.

  • Safely handle cash, vouchers, and card transactions at all times.

  • Promote and enroll customers in the Clicks ClubCard loyalty program, ensuring participation targets are met.

  • Inform customers about ongoing promotions and special offers to encourage sales and enhance satisfaction.

  • Deliver superior customer service through professional, friendly interaction.

  • Maintain merchandising and store housekeeping standards according to Clicks’ visual guidelines.

  • Support Clicks’ vision to be the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.

  • Keep up-to-date with new products, promotions, and events to provide accurate information to customers.

Knowledge and Experience

Candidates should possess a basic understanding of retail operations and customer service. A background in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or retail store operations will be advantageous. Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and numerical accuracy.

  • Familiarity with merchandising principles and stock management processes.

  • Awareness of customer service excellence and effective communication.

Desirable experience: Previous work in a customer-facing role within retail or FMCG operations is preferred but not essential.

Education Requirements

  • Essential: Grade 12 (Matric Certificate).

  • Desirable: Minimum 50% in Mathematics and English at Grade 12 level.
