Overview

Minimum Requirements
Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric qualification
-
Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience

Computer literacy (MS Office)

Strong numerical skills and accuracy in handling money

Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal)

Basic customer service experience
-
Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
Advantageous:

Proficiency in a third additional language
Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier, your duties will include but are not limited to:

Providing friendly and efficient service at the point of sale (POS).

Recording all transactions accurately using the Dis-Chem operating system.
-
Adhering to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.

Building and maintaining professional relationships with customers.
-
Handling cash, credit cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty programs securely.
-
Reporting customer complaints or compliments to the supervisor or management.
-
Maintaining a clean, organized, and presentable work area.
-
Ensuring all line voids, price changes, and refunds are approved by a supervisor.

Managing and balancing your cash drawer efficiently at the end of your shift.

Following all security and safety protocols to minimize risk and prevent fraud.

Promoting Dis-Chem’s loyalty and rewards programs (such as Discovery, Momentum Multiply, eBucks, etc.).

Ensuring all outgoing stock, scripts, and items are scanned and paid for.

Handling confidential cash-related matters responsibly and only discussing them with management.

Observing customers for any suspicious activity and reporting it immediately.

Assisting with merchandise queries and basic customer product information.
