Job Purpose: The Learnership Engineering will be developed as part of a formal programme to ensure that sufficient discipline-specific skills are available within the organisation.
Minimum Required Qualification: Mechanical Fitting (including machining) – required qualification subjects: N2 Mathematics, N2 Engineering Science, N2 Engineering Drawing, and N2 Fitting Including Machining Trade Theory OR National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Engineering and Related Design with at least 40% for all subjects OR Grade 12 – Mathematics, Physical Science, Drawings (Engineering Graphic Design) and relevant trade theory – with at least 40% for all subjects.
The Appointee should:
- Be medically fit to work in the specific business area.
- Have a clear security screening record.
- Have a valid driver’s licence (if applicable).
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in an engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programme Objectives: Demonstrates an understanding of the programme objectives and associated tasks. Complete all modules of the development programme within the specified timeframe. Escalate queries and concerns associated with the programme and completion thereof where required.
- Safety, Health and Environment (SHE): Adhere to all legal and safety requirements. Conduct all work according to the required standard, specifications, and training. Attend Safety, Health and Environment meetings as and when required. Ensure that the prescribed safety equipment is worn and/or used. Recognise hazardous situations that have an impact on all jobs and participate in “on the job” risk assessment. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Reporting: Compile developmental progress reports for progress discussion with the relevant stakeholder. Report all inconsistencies and obstacles. Report and communicate ideas and recommendations.
- Stakeholder Relations: Ensure effective team relationships and support. Build and maintain partnerships and relationships with all stakeholders within the business. Engage relevant stakeholders to gain the necessary business context. Support and promote a positive work environment.
- People: Adhere to all mining standards, procedures, and company policies. Assist and support team members in the completion of tasks. Ensure effective two-way communication between team members. Support and promote a positive work environment.
- Building a values-based organisational culture: Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment-specific organisational development plan. This support manifests in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
- Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Compliance: Align to international responsible mining principles.
- Focus on safe production and operational excellence: Focus on Health and Safety as well as operational excellence.
