Overview
Addo Elephant National Park, one of South Africa’s most treasured conservation areas, invites suitably qualified and hardworking individuals to apply for two (2) General Worker positions in the Tourism Department. The successful candidates will report directly to the Duty Manager and will play a vital role in maintaining the park’s facilities, ensuring cleanliness, and contributing to a positive visitor experience.
Please Note:
Successful candidates will be required to provide their own transport and accommodation, as staff housing is not available within the park.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 certificate (Standard 10) or equivalent qualification.

1–2 years’ experience working as a General Worker.
-
1 year of experience within the Tourism Industry.
-
Proficiency in at least two languages, including English (essential).
-
Basic Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) knowledge.
-
Time management, planning, and organizational skills.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
-
Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Knowledge of operating general gardening tools (e.g., lawnmowers, rakes, hedge trimmers, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
-
Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties around the park, including terrain upkeep, garbage removal, cleaning of picnic sites, ablution facilities, and office buildings.

Maintain equipment, machinery, and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.

Assist in the collection and distribution of supplies when required.

Apply Occupational Health and Safety standards consistently to ensure a safe working environment.

Regulate traffic flow and assist visitors with parking to ensure smooth operations within the park.

Perform ad-hoc duties as directed by the line manager.

Uphold the park’s standards of cleanliness, safety, and service excellence in all daily tasks.

Remuneration
The remuneration package is aligned with the Paterson A3 job grade, which includes a basic salary and applicable allowances and benefits as outlined in SANParks’ HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service.

This appointment will be made in accordance with SANParks’ Employment Equity Plan and transformation objectives. Preference will be given to candidates who meet the EE targets.
